I have been following Dave Wooley’s build of the Soviet Aviation Cruiser Kiev in Model Boats Magazine with great interest, admiration, and even envy.

What a magnificent model this is, built to a standard that I can only dream of. It must have given Dave an enormous amount of satisfaction to see her on the water in her (almost) completed state. Judging by the photos she appears to have performed extremely realistically, and made an impressive sight.

Congratulations, Dave, a job very well done, and one to be proud of.

Fantastic model, and a tour-de-force in the art of model making, not only to that standard but keeping it going for 4 years.

I can well understand the model now being in a museum, and of course there is considerable personal satisfaction to be gained knowing thousands of people are going to admire it, but… all that work and not to sail it again.., or at least, for a long while !!! difficult choice!

Thank you all for your kind words . For me building Kiev was a real labour of love and over that long build period I received support from many quarters which helped maintain the momentum . All the very best to you all and a special thanks to ARH -2 for his inspirational chats . By the way Bob when is your GE appearing on the box , I am looking forward to see how all the effort of a days filming turns out ?
