      @nederlander
      I’ve just purchased the plans of Bluebird II by J. Pottinger which are drawn in 1/30th scale. I would like to build in 1/24th. My math tells me to multiply the existing drawings by 1.66 to reach the desired size. Does this sound right?

      Thanks

          Hi,
           30/24=1.25
          (I think!)

            Correct Mick, Multiply all dimensions by 1.25. Or go to your local plan copy shop and have them blown up by 125%.

              Where possible I scan and print to the desired enlargement/reduction factor and for all other measurements I use my slide rule – remember them? – which is a far quicker way to convert scale measurements than fiddling with a calculator .   Robin

                Robin,
                I still have my old plastic circular slide rule (given to me by a pilot friend after he got his licence & could afford a proper one!!)
                Circular slide rules have the advantage of you don’t get to the end of the stick and lose track , you just addsubtract 10(?) I forget now

                  Hi Michael,

                  Nice to know there is someone else who knows what a slide rule is

                  Never seen a circular one but it makes sense.   I used to have an old Otis King cylindrical ‘guessing stick’ which had a scale equivalent to a 6ft rule!
