      I did a Float test on my Fish Cutter today, in my Test Tank ( The Gold Fish are in shock!!) I was also shocked to find that I will need 6Kilos of lead, or other weight, to bring her down to waterline level. has anyone bright ideas about fitting removable Ballast? I do not fancy having to carry the boat very far that heavy, I have a transport Trolley that can double as a launcing Trolley. But it is the problem of getting her in and out of the car. The majority of the weight is required forward of the mainmast.. Any brain waves? I can cast metal if required.

          Water-tank in hull., tank empty when in the car, tank full once in the pond. portable pump required, manual or electric.
           
          OR a shaped tank in the boat connected to a pipe open to the water with a small vent tube…automatically floods when in the water, drains when lifted gradually out. Several RTR designs have this.
           
          Water ballast has been discussed before on several posts i believe. The problem you may have is retro-fitting an arrangement like this.
           
          I trust no fish were harmed in the making of this hull ??

            Hi, I need 700gms of lead. I put it into coin bags, and take them out for transporting.
            Harols A Underhill reccomends calico bags, about half full, placed in the hull where needed.
            Have you put the steel keel on yet?

              James,
              I have seen people using cast lead ballast with a handle cast in. They can be made to fit over the keel of a wooden boat. If you’re happy to cast lead it can be done in a wooden mould, possibly lined with metal foil. There are considerable risks to messing about with large quantities of molten lead however, as I’m sure you are aware.  I’ve gotten a bit windy about it as I have grown older. My last lead ballast was laminated from builders flashing and Alaldite- that weighed about 17lb.
