       Hi Gents,

Running backwards with one leg does not quite cover what I hope to do.

A little about me first, as this is just my 2nd post.
I am a 41 yr old Boilermaker from a family of Boilermakers. My Dad has had several fishing boats built from bare hull up which i have helped to build….but
       My passion is sail  .
      J class in particular.
I learnt to sail at the age of 10  and love it.

      My questions are;
      Where to start
      Where to get plans
      What material

      sound familair to other newbies

      Rob

          Hi Rob,
I have to agree the J class were the ultimate in Yachting.

Try these for a starting point.

Good luck, and let us know how you progress. It could turn out to be a big project!

            Hello Robert

There is an excellent plan available, of Sandy Cousins Britannia J class in the Modelboats plans book

The construction is not for beginners though!………………..Bob

                  Robert,
You can’t beat Harold Underhill’s Plank on Frame Vols 1&2 in my opinion. Expensive to buy but you will have a friend for life!  Brown Son and Ferguson do it I think- look to the right of the screen!
An alternative for a successful first classic yacht would be one of Bob Underwoods excellent grp hulls- no contact details but I’m sure someone here could help if required. He used to be in Bradford on Avon. These tend to be more burdensome than a J Class but look fantastic on the water.

                  Hope this helps.
                  Ian Gardner
