lets not forget, the two different types of steam drifter hull, to throw a spanner in the works.
the typical scottish drifter [ danny boy…mountfleet models] had different stern bulwarks to the english east coast drifter [formidable type LT100] and so the choice continues.
there were also the trawler/drifters which were equipped with both trawl winch and gallows, usually starboard side, AND a steam capstain and mollgoggers for hauling the drift nets.These trawler drifters had the best of both worlds, being able to fish for both herring and white fish when each were in season, thus being able to earn all year round.
sorry to add confusion, but a drifter just isn’t a drifter…there are choices, and in a way better for the modeller to make there own individual model just that bit more interesting.
