In the June issue of MB, there will be a review of the USS Monitor by Dave Abbott, from Speedline Models. Dave has succesfully weathered that model by using a range of weathering acrylic paints from Cammett – who have a website.
Many moons back when I built my Darnell X Craft, I put the finished model in the garden, covered it in wire wool and left it there for a few weeks whilst I commenced my O Class. After six weeks it was lovely and rusty, all it needed was a quick blow over with a thin coat of matt varnish and job done….real scale rust!
Thank you Richard for your suggestion…..but I`ve got the rusty effect suitably sorted now.
Please take a look at my Great Eastern album to see my efforts
