Hi all.

Im planning on building a working model of the hms warspite in the near future and am looking for a set of plans to build from. Im hoping for this to be an acurate model so the plans will have to be rather detailed, any help would be appreciated.

Hi Andy,

I think you may find the national Maritime Museum will be able to supply you with plans.I usually contact them and ask them to send me a list of exactly what they have to offer on the subject then chose the drawings I need from there.

The Anatomy of the ship series also do a book on Warspite and its a great help when building, lots of detail.

Thanks for the info, I have the anatomy of ships book on the warspite which gave me the idea for the build, just to contact the maritime museum for the plans, Thanks again

I built a 1/144 scale radio controlled model of Warspite from the plans in ‘The Battleship Warspite’ in the Anatomy of the ship series. Highly recommended!

I am currently building a 1:96 scale rc model of the Warspite.She is built using the plank on frame method double skinned and covered with scale plating.She is 75% complete with lots of upperworks detailing still to do.

I used a set of plans from Sambrook Marine 86, Broad Str, Teddington,Middx. These plans are to 1:192 scale and are not bad. Most of the fine detail I have gleaned from "Anatomy of the ship" and from "Profile Morskie" No 5 Brytyjski Pancernik HMS WARSPITE.

The “Anatomy” book was what prompted me to want to build a warspite as well. I have just recieved my set of plans from Don at Loyalhanna Dockyard. I had Don scale them up to 1/72 and plan the next five years to build. Don is very helpful and is both willing and able to produce most any scale wanted. The plans cost me $165 which I thought very reasonable. I had tried the plans service at the NMM but they 1) did not have all the plans I wanted in the same scale and 2) were a lot more expensive than Loyalhanna. I am trying to decide which method to use to build the hull. Anyone out there got any recomendations???
