I am new to the forum and I must say it is packed with great information.
I have never built a ship before but as a young fella I built a myriad of aircraft in all sorts of scales. So not new to modelling.
I had a friend once who had a wooden model of an old coastal steamer on his mantelpiece that his grandfather made. I though it was brilliant and for the last twenty years I have thought about building my own.
So, I started.
Scratch built static 1/200 scale HMAS Sydney 1913. "oh my god what have I done"
Actually, it's coming along quite nicely. Screwed it up a couple of times and redid it…but, overall not too bad so far.
So looking for deck details to build. Being a Chatham class there are a lot of photos of the sister ships but what I really need now is all the deck furniture and structures, winches, gantries, axillary boat gear etc etc ect. Any help on this will be much appreciated.
I will make a build log and keep you all up to date on the progress. I very happy to share any of the plans I have made as well.
Thanks and nice to be here
