It is not a particularly difficult model to build if you get the MyHobbyStore plan.

                Hi Tony

I am building Pathfinder from a set of Vic Smeed plans, this is my first scratch buily model and have been able to follow the plans so far but am having some difficulty in understanding the davit assemblies. I do not intend to have them operational but would like to have a correct reprtesentation of the operating mechanism, so have made the actual davits but cannot work out from the plan how the rest of it was constructed.

Hopefully I have explained my predicament correctly, and would appreciate any assistance you can offer.

                Donald

Donald, I think they are single acting Welin davits. The general principle of operation is shown below. but I think the ones on Pathfinder just pivot at the foot without the toothed quadrant.

                  Hope this helps.

Many thanks for such a speedy and succinct reply, that will help with the build.

I have arranged a mini bus hire for our "annual pilgrimage" to the Convention at Haydock Park, and am busy making up my shopping list all ready to hit the stands on Saturday.

                    Many thanks for your assistance.

                    Donald
