      Hi.
I’ve joined in the hope that someone can help me,I have emailed the editor of the magazine but have had no reply.
Here’s the story. My mum recently passed away and I am trying to keep dad busy. He started a project a few years ago and now is the time to complete it. But he’s lost the plans.i have no idea what the boat is called and dad can’t remember, I did send a picture with my email in the hope that it could be identified and a copy of the plans obtained. Can anyone help me please?

This is Teresa's Dad's part built model. It looks like it might be an oil rig support vessel or possibly a modern workboat/tug. Build looks very neat so far.

I assume it is not a kit – Teresa, are there any other bits associated with it? – and is built from commercially available plans, most likely Model Boats or MMI.

                  Does anyone recognise it?

                  Colin

Now provisionally identified as Nexus Tide, a free plan of an oil rig support vessel by Eris Kennedy published in the 2005 issue of Model Boats. Bridge window pattern on the model is different from the plan but it otherwise looks identical. I have asked Teresa to check the dimensions and given her a link to the relevant issue for sale on Ebay.

Looks like that was the answer. Teresa has now ordered the issue from Ebay and is very grateful for our help.

I'll take that as a given then! wink

However, it wasn't just me, a couple of other people were also very helpful.

Model boaters are a friendly crowd and always happy to help out in circumstances like this.

Just a quick update for you Colin. Dad’s magazine arrived yesterday. He’s thrilled to have the plans now, not sure mum would be happy, he’s using the coffee table to build his boat 🙄 lol.

                              Hi Teresa,

That's good to know. A friend of mine once used an electric jigsaw to cut out a part on the dining room table but he also cut out part of the dining room table with the inevitable marital reaction!

Hope mthe build goes well and your Dad can always ask for advice on here.

                              Colin
