have a bash at making them………go to a dolls house shop [ or ebay], buy some figures and modify with milliput……..it’s easier than it sounds believe me.

I have found that you can get a good effect with Action Man type figures, although a bit bulky, and DAS modelling compound. I once found a Ken figure (Barbies boyfriend apparently!) and he was a bit skinnier. They come out around 1/2lb which is a consideration.  I have often wondered about those jointed artists mannekins you can get in art shops but have never tried that.

I think that, whilst anatomically more correct, an Art wooden model will require significant work , unlike a doll ( or something similar)  which will simply require a bit of fiddling with.

What sort and size of craft will the men be used for??

Well, I thought all you knowledgablechaps would have come up with loads of answers to my problem. Not to worry i`ll work it out some how.
The  barbie ken figures are about right. My model is the Seaplane Tender which was shown in the 2009 winter naval and lifeboat issue

                Thanks  Tony

I realised after my post that I’d had a bit of a ‘senior moment’ and by talking about Action men figures I was talking about 1:6 scale figures of which I have done a couple. Sorry!
George Turner does some nice 1:12 figures which might be adapted. Those figures on the original Seaplane Tender are George Turner’s I’m pretty sure. I used them on my Osprey fishing boat.

                  Have fun,
                  Ian

                      Good man.

When i was looking for dolls for my Fantome, i discovered they were old “pippa” six-inch dolls.

Cost a small fortune on e-bay as they are now collectable !

1/12 scale Figures, some lateral thinking here. Dollshouses are mostly 1/12th scale, have a look in Net for them. There are a series of Resin figures, all painted and the male ones could be adapted and repainted. Got good faces and poses.Cost about a fiver each, there are also a staggering amount of accessories for Houses and shops, Fish, animals and household articles, tools and such. Have a look, but keep the wife away, that hobby is seriously expensive! In time!!

Thanks everbody for your suggestions. the ones I got off e-bay turned out to be 12 inches tall not 12th scale. still i only paid 99p for them. I  got 1 sitting and 1 standing from George Turners. They have soldier or sailor heads in the pack so I use the sailors heads and will have to paint them
