      Hi All,

Well after a few months of aeroplane building I’m back with a small model which I hope appeals to a few folk, my partner Bernice and I often wander along the quay side at Wivenhoe on the River Colne which runs from Colchester 39 miles to the North Sea. Having spotted this little boat with no name I have made one up which I think fits the bill 🙂 so here goes .

          Hi All,

An update on the Lass, bad sailing and flying weather is great for building, although I have been slope soaringDSCF3119DSCF3126 🙂 I won’t bore you all with all the bits I got wrong 🙁 just to say I modify the drawing as I go along, the IKEA approach to the bulkheads and on with the planking 🙂

          Regards  Ray

            Happy Easter folks 🙂

At least after today I may stop eating Chocolate eggs for a while !!

I’m still planking the Lass , a fraught experience involving soaking the 3/16″ balsa and hoping for the best, the bulkhead shapes turned out ok so I’m happy so far 🙂

            Kind Regards  to all  RayDSCF3129

12th scale gives you the whole world of doll’s house figures and accessories to fit the boat out with!

                Hi Richard,

Yes the world is my Lobster 🙂

We have a chap Martin in our club who has a 3d printing business Dockyard Models, I maybe asking him to print some fish and bits and bob’s for the Lass .

Always worth having a mate with a 3D printer!  And who knows how to use it!  I fail on both counts.

                    Hi Richard

Your right about having a mate who can 🙂  Count me out as well on the computer generated bits, It’s cheating isn’t it ?? 🙂

I’m just reading the Chantry club’s diary for the year, 25th May the Bank holiday is our steam day ! I’d better get the TID going for that.

                    Regards  Ray

Enjoy the day and make the most of it Ray.  We have had a bit of a shake up of the committee at my club and there is a noticeable lack of enthusiasm for steam days, or any open days for that matter.  I can’t help but wonder how long I will be doing steam testing.

                        Thanks Richard,

My Chantry club members haven’t a clue about steam boats, but Geoff Dixon is a member and has a lot of experience with bought steam plants, I have been enjoying steam for almost 70 years now as my family Dad Uncle and Grandad were all model engineers and always had loads of design articles by LBSC from the 1940’s to read, I still have my Tich built when I was 14’ish 🙂

                        Best Regards  Ray

A quick update on progress, all the vital parts are now fitted, motor, rudder and servo the side decks which are more of a wide gunwhale and the hull is glass clothed, that’s the hard part done the floor and wheelhouse next 🙂

Bloomin’ heck Ray, have you got a Tardis hidden away somewhere!

I’ve not been able to do anything on my builds for weeks. Not helped by doing some drawings for a friend of my wife’s for some building works and making the Planning & Building Regulations applications. At least they were done online (though that brought its own problems) and not like years ago when I had to fill out multiple copies of the forms by hand.

Anyway, that and other things (ignoring the new ones Helen keeps mentioning!) are done now and so I can get back into the workroom.
