Has the February issue of the Magazine been sent out yet?

I normally get mine just before the end of the month before the issue date. Although our post does seem to be unreliable.

              Thanks

Looks like mine has disappeared into the Royal Mail – Lost Mail Pile.

Must be a Warehouse full somewhere.

I will keep hoping to see it one day – maybe.

Well the February Issue never arrived, but at least the March Issue arrived this morning.

Lindsey tells me they are using a nwe File Transfer Protocol which should overcome the ‘muddy’ images in the  Februrary issue. The March one does look brighter.

I agree Colin the pictures do look a little clearer this month, but when you compare it with other magazines, Airfix, Hornby, Vintage & Classic Motorcycle, which is a freebie with my VMCC subscription, etc.. it still seems to lack the sharpness and clarity and just general impact.  I can’t help but wonder whether the real issue is the quality of the paper.

Great plan by Ray though and good to see plans still being included.

Yes, the paper is defunitely part of the problem, a bit like when you print photos from an inkjet onto standard office paper.

Still a lot of overlarge photos too. I’m not sure that those extra 8 pages were a good idea, the cost might have been better applied to keeping the price down.

                          Thanks Richard,

Not many people are designing and building these days, which is obviously good for me 🙂 I had 3 published last year !! there probably won’t be another one one for a while, I’m building aeroplanes for the spring since October 3 so far 🙂 one with a 5 cylinder radial glow plug motor gifted to me by my friend Tim Rowe.

I haven’t seen the March issue yet as I buy it on Friday, but I agree about two many big photo’s on Loo paper !!

                          Regards  Ray

Yes March issue a bit better for quality. Slipper article looked good Ray. Like the 3d colour view.

Yes there does appear to be a bit of page filling going on.

Like Ray I think I had ‘an amount’ of articles….four or 5 boats last year in the mag, some of which were gp hull ones, so followed on bi–monthly however that’s too many and before running out and having only one boat a year in there and I will be cutting back a bit on submissions.

A PLAN  or PLANS is in the offing though!  I don’t do plans as you know ( bumper boat the only one so far) principly because I only use a sketch at best, and there’s generally too much artistic sculpting and such going on. However, the hovercraft just completed were dead easy and have a good look about them for not a lot of work. Particularly pleased with SRN4 for the easy sophistication. I might pass the article to a few of you to see what you think as regards to viability of build from the plan and writing.

Unusually the next boat to appear, the little HSS next month was not acknowledged by the editor for receipt or indeed passed back in edited form to check for anomalies.  Perhaps it’s one i got dead right??
