      Hi All,

Well as I’m gradually getting the TID fittings made, I thought I’d have a go at this so on Saturday I  had a day off from the workshop and produced the drawing, all I have to do now is to build it !! it shouldn’t take long 🙂 picking up a lot of ply at the Headcorn show at the end of the month from SLECLady Luck 1 070825 but will start with the bulkheads from cheap Wickes ply .

      Regards Ray

Hand drawing — nice work Ray.

I had a big clear out of things lately.  When i relieved the Panache yacht from my building board it was twisted. It had been stood awhile. I then realised that the frames were only located by the slots onto the keel plate. I should have had two lugs per frame to keep them square to the board!!!!

Moving on, i will most likely crack on with the Remora.

          Hi Brian,

Yes all hand drawn , if it’s good enough for Adrian Newey say no more 🙂

I have just discovered a marvellous stepped drill bit set which saves a lot of time cutting out the centre of bulkheads, I used to use a Starrett hole cutter, never again ! only cheap at Lidl 🙂 (photo to follow)

Please do a build thread for Remora , I love the old school plywood modelling .

          Regards  Ray

                Hi All,

The Slipper continues, nearly have a finished hull 🙂 almost !!

An interesting issue with the bottom skin, the 1/32″ ply didn’t think much of trying a compound curve at the bow so I had to form a shallow V to make the skin lay on former 1 !! still I live and learn occasionally 🙂

Photos won’t upload !! will try later 🙂

                Regards  Ray

                        Hi All,

I spent a most enjoyable weekend at the Southern Model Show at Headcorn Aerodrome, the biggest gathering of modellers in the South East corner of our island, 20 + model boat clubs and hundreds of models with a sailing lake of straw bails and a huge plastic liner 🙂 ( big bonus was the fullsize Spitfire’s from Aero Legends flying in and out all day ) it certainly put the RC model aeroplanes in their place !!

The Slipper and the TID tug were well received, so now I will paint the tug, it created much interest in bare wood, and of course the steam plant.

The Slipper is progressing and I’m sure will be a free plan next year at some point, I will post a picture of it completed to finish this build thread 🙂

                        Regards RayDSCF2968DSCF2969

                              Hi All,

Well one month and a few days she’s beginning to look promising 🙂

Plenty of mahogany with oil based varnish brings out the colour nicely and the decks with water based I think looks like teak, with open cockpit boats where to put the batteries will be interesting !!

Thank’s she has some curves alright , interesting concept giving hull length which equals speed, and very little actual boat at the stern ! , but will be driven at a sedate pace (most of the time ) 🙂

good stuff as usual Ray. I think a lot of the Thames slippers had very small engines in as they were purely for pootling up and down whilst having strawberries and champagne ??

Do you have a set of figures in mind for the crew??

                                      Hi Ash,

I do have some dolls house figures from a steam launch I inherited recently but they are rather dated, however I have a boating friend at Chantry club Martin Oliver who runs a cottage business Dockyard Models 3d printing and has offered to produce some little folk 🙂  He’s a dab hand at it making pretty much anything and a trophy of one of our tug members Ron .

I reckon with the 400 motor it will nip along ok .

                                        Hi All,

I’m sad how quiet the old forum is these days 🙁 but the times they are a changin !! We had a good morning yacht racing 🙂 at Bluewater Chantry club 6 races 3X Victoria’s 3X DF 65 with a fair breeze at times.

The Slipper is coming along and has it’s ballast test in the bath she will take 1 lb of radio, batteries and some trim weights , the end is in sight 🙂

There are a couple more pictures to follow.

Almost tempted with a steam launch soon from Mahogany as I have a spare V twin occilator 🙂

Around 2 years ago I started a new aeroplane an 80″ span DH60 Gypsy Moth well as you know I dip in and out of my variety of modelling interests, but she is finished and ready for her maiden flight tomorrow at Headcorn aerodrome, so wish me luck !! 🙂DSCF2986DSCF2987
