In the new mag, contributors pay me for the privilege of being in the mag, obviously.

The smaller and thus the more mean the article, the more it takes, in order to encourage people to contribute.

No builds better or more complex than wot I build will be considered…although folding in a brown envelope may make a difference.

Anyway, spray rails fitted to project.

The behaviour of the thing has a few of us scratching our heads, and several theories have been put forward as to cause and cure. No suggestion is out the window but a modicum of originality has to be kept. Doesn’t mean to say some mods would be discounted.

i will make an ‘add-on’ foam bit to tape on the boat next test to smooth out the 45 degree step that currently exists, just in case this makes a difference.

The new motor will be only 50gm as opposed to the 143gm of the current so that will make a difference, to stability if nothing else. It is also shorter and the mount will have to moved rearwards so the weight will be further back (imagine cutting 2/3 off the front of the current motor), also a help in lightening the bow.

        no boating this morning.

New 2200Kv motor on new project. Will retest tomorrow iff necc between showers.

The weather is getting bad in your area, watch out for storms and icebergs coming in from the Heron Lake.

Meanwhile it so hot up here int north that the cobbles on the M6 are cracking

Cobbles? I didn’t think you were so sophisticated up north.

We aren't sophisticated out in the villages but the big industrial cities have cobbled streets so it was only natural to show how advanced we are by fitting the very latest in cobble technology on the M6 when it passed between Liverpool and Manchester.

We aren't called the northern powerhouse for nothing.

Surely you mean the M62 where patrons of the highway are allowed to avoid both Oldham and Rochdale in one go?

Malcolm I bow to your superior knolidge as my understanding of the world north of Watford is somewhat hazy.

Doesn’t look great out but I will at least be there to test the new project. It’s a bit breezy but I will test it in the side stream again which is sheltered.

Hoped it might be sunny to take pics of the various things that need decent pictures of but looks like that will be another day.

Way back when I was incarcerated in a control office I asked one of my merry men what it was like on the moors above Littleborough. He said, and I quote, "Still snowing from last year".

                              !!!

can you be.ieve it th3 weed had blown over to the jetty overnight, which scuppered a yot and a speedboat but didn’t stop me try the new one on the side stream.

Basically the boat went ok with the new motor on 2s and with the spray rails, on the twice cut down prop.

Extra “filler” foam although perhaps providing a minuscule performance increase made the boat visibly more tender and the full size prop, although definitely providing a slight performance increase flipped the boat over twice (once with and once without the filler) although the prop did not contact the water, it was just the increase in prop torque.

I think this is as good as it gets so I will paint it now, and further experimentation will be limited to ballasting and swapping props. Perhaps a bit more oomph will be available by cutting down a 7 inch prop to the same small diameter, As this will give me more blade area.

Up here we are a little more canny in our mineral knowledge and aren't as gullible as you southerners, we wouldn't fall for the conman's iron pyrite. But what can we expect from a section of the population who drink Watneys Red Barrel and those terrible Party 7 things.

I remember those parties and the poor swine who hadn't got a 'puncture' type of can opener and trying to open a Party 7 with a hammer and rusty nail.

Oddly enough the contents tasted better for the addition of rust.

Pond weeded up. Tested boat, no significant improvement….but…did spot something else to try.

No boating tomorrow I think due to weed, the stringy stuff underneath the duckweed seems to be all over.

Pond virtually clear of weed, the rain we have had has cleared it all away, and even if the wind direction changes there’s not much elsewhere to blow over.

Hopefully final test of new boat tomorrow other than that I am dusting off the Hovervan (for a bit of noise) and summat else, woteva.

Just to demonstrate how feeble my mind has become, I have just realised that this thread is over 10 years old.

Ashley is now retired and drawing his huge pension and Berengar is a grown adult.

The longevity of this thread is down to Ashleys persistence in building unusual projects and his love of manmade board.

Just imagine what the next 10 years will bring, Ashley will have a knighthood for his contribution to the hardboard industry him being the driving force behind a flying car that can land on water.

If only I had £1 for every word that Ashley has written.
