Our club also has a Del Boy character…………….Duckie!

His greatest pleasure, is flogging all sorts of desireable gear to the club members and also ………….."Tat" …….in aid of club funds!

      Here`s his limo…….Teals Independant TraderS van……..TITS…..For short!

      teal trader.jpg

I was one of his victims this week!

A Vic Smeed Starlet in need of TLC for the outrageous sum of…..£5.00!

I`ve always liked the quaint stuff from yesteryear, so this is my next project. Might fit a motor and no winch for novelty

      Like it, Tony?

Got some mast's in my "tat" that might be of interest to you Bob, just trying to find out off one of the members with one of these boats the length you need!.

          "Tat" indeed!.

                Hi, Paul

After all the fiddling work on Glasgow, I felt like a holiday!

The simple vintage Starlet was just the job!……and only a fiver too

It's such a bulky boat, I could put the Slo Mo motors in and see how it behaves?

                Only hope, Vic's not watching!

                Bob

Er……Complete with coupling fan of course

                      Hi Bob,

did you mean a "bung" or should that be a plug – ha ha, just seen the joke. Hope that photo has some nice text attached.  Is that blatent advertising on your ruler? Whatever next!!

I've just started my first plastic kit conversion, PT 109, and have put in 3 x brushless for some speed. Getting alignment proved a bit tricky but I think I'm ready to solder up the connections and run in the shafts.

                      I'll start a tread soon.

Just started making the plug………All great fun, turning chunks of wood in the lathe!

Will split the plug and use one half in plaster

                        All I need now………….Is 5lb of lead

There`s not much of this stuff lying around these days!

The wooden plug was great fun to turn on the lathe

                              plug.jpg

The next job is to split the plug along the centre line to make one half of the pattern

In my good old engineering days at work, the patterns were painted orange and black

So I`ll do the same……..For old tymes sake?

A quick question for the hard of thinking (like me) how will you prevent the plaster from sticking to the plug as it sets?

For starters, the plug is painted

I will probably add a coat of Vaseline too

It's not much of a problem really

                                          Hello Bob

I am busy working up the drawings for the multi superstructure hull that we discussed a few weeks ago

                                          new design.jpg

The full cabin version worked very well as a prototype so I decided to work them all up into full drawings. At 3ft they are a little on the small side for my liking but at least I can have the prototype on the table whilst I do the detailing.

How is life with you? Its a bit hot where I am.

                                              Hi Bob,

aye, you can't beat a coating of vaseline – especially as the plaster warms up as it goes off which assists the vaseline to coat the full interface!

Even we've got sun here, 3 days at 24+ is a bit much, my spuds will be cooked when I lift them for supper.

Like the look of the military superstructure, Paul, seems to add a sleekness to the hull.

                                              Cheers, Kim

                                                Hi Kim

Its a straight forward Perkasa but oddly enough its also the one design that I am having trouble with.

Looking at the plan through the eyes of a Newbie……There is nothing shown to hold the mast up!

The mast rests on a slotted plate with two shrouds…..And that's it

Could this be the reason why the model was abandoned?

The shrouds are aft of the mast, so a cable, or rope, or sheet from the bows to mast top should do it?

Only hope there's some meat under the deck!

                                                    Hello Captain Bob

Of course there is some meat under the deck, in fact there are two great big steaks in there but I didn't want to show to much detail on the drawing (you will have noted the lack of propshafts and equipment positions)

The intention is to finalise the drawings and build some examples before publishing to raise some more money for the Royal British Legion and Help the Heroes.

                                                      Hello Paul

We seem to have got our lines crossed!

I was referring to Vic Smeads drawing with the missing mast retainers!

                                                      Not to worry…..Such is life……..lol

When are your drawings ready for publication?

                                                      Bob
