Fab Four Boats !!!

These boats finished at 8PM Australian Time for once !!!

Two runners, the Slo Mo Shun4 and the Spitfire.

The other two unknowns and no size, but they look in good condition.

I found the Cg point for the spitfire, but none on the Slo Mo.

I have downloaded the build manual for a start.

If someone can help with the CG for the Slo Mo would be lovely.

I have a friend who built a Spitfire. Very tricky model to build and set up and even more difficult to operate. Get it right though and it goes extremely quickly in a straight line. Then try and turn it!

I was told the same about my Diva, but, is great straight out !!

I did add spray rails which was not standard.

The Slo Mo kit is $280au and the Spitfire kit $235 au without motors etc.

So at $365au with freight and import duty I did OK !!!!

I will have to checkout some you tube videos on these boats.

There was a toy auction near us (Trevor and myself) wot we didnt go to, but there were some model boats in it. A slo mo in great condition with all the gear and radio went for £45.

Harry. How do you do it mate? MORE boats. Get that whopper out from under your house and do it up first!!

Hi All

The Slo Mo Shun 4 with Carson 2.4G radio, Carson Nimh 2100mah battery and Viper ESC work OK.

The tail fin requires repairs.

The Spitfire, well the outboard works OK, but the ESC is dead.

Found the Lipo battery under the forward tissue cover dead and burn marks on it.

Strait in the bin, will replace with two small 3S Lipos with the throttle at 70%.

The Little deep vee (590 x 110mm) has a brush 380 with shaft and prop.

The river steam like launch (710 x 220mm) has no motor or shaft.

Both these are up for sale at the club.

Happy with the two main boats, just waiting for the weather to warm up to get back in the garage.

Hi All

We have a few warm afternoon of 14C.

So I started on the Spitfire !!

The bottom was a very rough fiberglass job with holes and lumps.

I bit like an English road !!!

All sanded down and ready for paint.

Removed all the forward stringers and added two cross stringers as well as a small plywood support.

Installed two battery supports so I can slide the batteries in and out.

The foam glue into place to stop the batteries moving about.

The batteries are 3S 80mm long and the same weight as the old battery(6 volts).

With the motor a 3600kv (about 21600 rpm).

So with the 3S batteries ( about 39960 rpm).

I will have to trim back the throttle stop on the transmitter to about 50 %.

For testing and trimming a bit less me thinks !!!

Hi All

Slowly working away with the boat.

Finished installing the forward stringers.

Started adding the first of three layers of veneer instead of the tissue covering.

As it's still WINTER down south with only 10 to 14C I am not getting a lot done.

Also I have taken up the roll of Lawn mower person at our Model Park.

It was going so well until I hit a steel star post laying in the tall grass .

Two broken blade mounts and two very bend blades !!!!

So the beast is in my garage in bits waiting for parts.

This morning I found another problem, leaking petrol .

Removed the carb and gave it a clean out and reinstalled it.

Still leaking petrol but only a very small amount.

More bits to order.

So much for a quiet life !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rope into setting up a model display for next March.

Life is interesting, but not so boring !!!

A bit more work on the Spitfire.

Reskinned the bow section with veneer.

First skin done and started on the second skin.

The third finally layer will have to be good, if not it will be painted.

Found a driver for the boat !!!!!

You are a wimp….10-14 degrees!!!! We pray for such temperatures mate….thats string vest and knotted hanky weather!!!!

A slab of beef (PORT-a-house), No Way !!!!!!!

That's a years pension money that size !!!!

The bottom was red fibreglassed very, very rough.

This was after hours sanding back.

Respray with filler/undercoat and repainted later.

We are into Spring but wait for the summer 20-24C and day light to 9PM.

Sunrise is before the age care gates open.
