Brushless motor power / voltage

The late Paul Freshney was sold on using brushless motorswith LiPos in scale boats as it was a much more efficient setup and that appealed to him. On the other hand it was a fair bit more expensive to do this using quality kit, The motors were relatively cheap but the ESCs were more expensive.

I have brushless/LiPo setups in my two SLEC Fairey power boats but tend to favour 385 low drainmotor/ NiMH batteries for my scale boats. It's a reliable combination and no need to worry about maintaining LiPo storage voltages etc.
