Many many years ago I was given a Presedent Fairy Huntsman wood Kit. Well I started it but for the last ten years or so it has not progressed!!

So I thought that to get me back into model wood boat, and to finish off my Huntsman I would build a smallish starter type model wood boat.

Any recommendations please.

I will post a picture of the Huntsman build status to date when I figure out how to do this!

Best option would be to check out the plans available from my Hobby Store

, Select one that takes your fancy, check out the back issues of Model Boats for say the last year and see if any have a free plan that you like ( Cheaper to get the magazine and the free plan than to purchase the plan separately)

One plan that springs to mind is the UTE

and just noticed the plan and Wood pack have been reduced to £ 29.49, down from 41.99

You might also be interested in the '50+' free plans on this site. They are designed to be easy and quick for beginners to learn wood boat modelling techniques with. And the materials are cheap – about £5 for the wood…

I cant seem to put images on here for some reason but one main reason for not progressing my Huntsman is the difficulty I have had trying to put on the side skins.

Interesting to read in the current issue of Model Boats that in the article on the Huntsman the author also comments on the difficulty in this step in the build of the original Model. Which is what mine is!

But I will follow you suggestion re the 50+ models. They look to be a good "re introduction" to wood modelling for me. Cheers.
