      Hi,

Can anyone tell me what glue to use to stick rubber fendering to a pre painted surface?

I am gluing a long length of fendering to a lifeboat which has been painted and all finished ready for the fender. Terry Small says he used Flexible super glue but I can only find it in small 2g tubes, I would need loads of these for my boat. smiley

      Many thanks Alan

i have been a model boat builder for 30 years or more and for rubber fendering i have always used ordinary medium super glue and never had a problem to date.. as long as you give it a good key..

                  mike.

                    Hi Mike,

I have now used the "Starloc Tuff n Clear glue" which is a cyanoacrylate type . It worked fine. I bought two bottles of the glue and in the end only used just over half of one 20 g bottle. Not an easy job though as getting it positioned perfectly first time is very important because it bonds almost instantly. Gluing about three inches at a time was my method. Job done! Thank you for your posting.

                    Regards Alan

I'll buy the unused bottle from you if you've no immediate plans for it. Please let me know by private message if that's OK and how much you would want for it (to include postage)?
