          Mark

You may use 27MHz, 40MHz or 2.4GHz radio sets for model boats. All are legal in the UK. The only frequency which is forbidden for "ground models" (cars and boats) is 35MHz which is reserved for model aircraft. You might find my article "Radio Ga Ga" useful for information like this – it appeared in the 2014 Winter Model Boats Special issue.

            Mark,

Further to Dave's earlier post, if you have any submarines, don't convert them to 2.4ghz, stay with 27 or 40mhz. 2.4ghz frequency doesn't work through water.

                HI Mark

This is the same as your flying background, most servos are standard size, make ?????. Batteries again to your choice, SLA batteries are heavy but can be part of your ballast, lipo's for fast light models.

What type of boat are you thinking of?

Radio gear is down to choice, I have Radio Link and Futaba, others use Planet, Spectrum. Run what you brung!!.

                    HI Mark

That should be one hell of a model……I would seriously talk to the yacht guys, they will put you straight about sail winches. As to the rest of the gear, cost is the only proviso, I started with Radio link, cheep and cheerful, no problems with it, replaced with Crimbo pressy of a Futaba T6 with extra receivers, first sailing end of December worked very well.

Use your flight tranny, on 2.4 there is no difference, not like 27, 35 or 40mhz.

                        Hi All

I am using Turnigy TGY-IA6 AFHDS it handles up 20 models(name each model) and you can change servo direction on the transmitter.

The new IA6/B V2 receivers have telemetry for temp/voltage/rpm sensors to send back to you transmitter.

I have received my sensors but waiting on the receiver.

I plan to use this in set up new models and playing around with different props.

As for servo Hobbyking have a great range.
