I have just aquired these two clockwork driven, one owner from new (!), wooden boats by Kellner in their original boxes. The previous owner had them as an 8 year old in 1923 , hence the dating of them. I would like to restore them but my skills are such I could very easily mess them up and a professional restorer would cost a fortune. Your thoughts would be appreciated, Brian

          Brian,

Messing around with them could easily destroy their value so it's very much a case of 'hands off'!

If you want to keep them then they are valuable antiques as they stand. Should you wish to dispose of them then a specialist maritime or toy auction will be the best bet..

Don’t do any restoration.they are special and fairly valuable as they are. Anything you do ruins originality. You don’t say where you are but Tennants in Leyburn Yorkshire are very good and have specialist sales. Try dending them some pictures with all the detail you can.
                  Charles.
