      p1010126.jpgp1010125.jpgHi All

      I think this is a Waverider 30"(710mm).

It had a set position rudder with a Johnson 888 brush motor.

The prop and prop drive bearings shot .

The hull bottom has battle scars, but the top sides are in good shape.

Removed the whole prop drive and motor.

      Installed a 35mm brushless 1450kv with a 40mm prop.

Sanded down the hull bottom and undercoated back to the prop shaft.

Also made a stand for the boat.

      That's in the first day!!!

Nice looking boat Harry. What you can get done on a warm sunny day!!

I am also using a 1450Kv motor in the Walrus but only 28mm in this case, 160 watts nominal. Dare say yours is…..oooooh……500?? 10000?

            HI Ashley

            It's 3648-1450kv 1600Watts on 6S, but I am using 3 or 4S with a 2 blade 40mm CNC prop.

All from the spare parts box.

Having real fun setting up the rudder without lifting the rear deck, plus the battery needs to be aft as possible for the CG.

Seen a kit on Mayhem so I can see why the boat is bow heavy.

The keel and stringers are more for a 60" boat.

              p1010131.jpgp1010130.jpgp1010129.jpgp1010128.jpgHi All

Mistake in measuring the boat is 28"(710mm) !!!

Decided to install a 2836-1800kv motor on 3S Lipo (11.1volts).

              Prop is a 3 blade 30mm and I have a 2 blade 32mm CNC prop.

              I have a few other motors to test, 28mm 3000 and a 3700kv.

Also planning to test a 35mm 2400kv from an old buggy.

Finished the boat today and dry tested the systems.

Harry. Do you keep a list of your motor/prop/battery combinations? Might be an interesting look=up?

                  Hi Ashley

The only list of motor/prop/ battery combinations is it old grey matter !!!

                  3639-1100kv/ 2 blade 40mm or 3 blade 37mm/ 3S or 4S Lipo.

                  3648-1450kv/ 2blade 40/42mm / 3S or 4S Lipo.

                  Prop Drive V2 2836-1800kv/ 2blade 32mm/ 2S Lipo.

                  B28-57-15L 1900kv or B28-57-17L 1700kv/ 2 blade 32mm/ 2S Lipo.

Ran the Wave rider with the Prop Drive 2836 motor on 3S, but it chine walk on full rpm.

Drop back to a 2S Lipo which works very well with a good turn of speed and quick turning.

I have a 28mm 3000kv from an old Hobbyking outboard may test it next on 2S.

                    Hi All

Changing motors again to a C3542-1250kv, but only on 3S.

Good for about 14000 rpm un loaded.

May up the battery to 4S if I can find a 60 Amp ESC.

                    Harry

Lovely boat, the Waverider. I built one in the 70s, it had a Decaperm in it but can't remember now how it went (or where it went). I bought a started kit on eBay last year, but the seller simply tipped it all into a box with no protection, so basically all I have is the plan, enough of the frames to start again, and an interesting collection of old wood. It still has the price written on the box, 69/-.

I will use it to build another, hopefully within the next 12 months.
