Hi all it’s your fave pain from cardiff ,again !!!!! .

I’m looking for a water pump to mount in the in the bow of my leander,something diferferent i suppose !!!! Also by the time it’s finished there will be a ” Wasp ” helicopter on the stern with rotateing blades and rotateing main ” bedsted ” radar . It’s not going to be a museum piece or a top of the range model but it is what it is an amateur built model by a keen enthusiast built with alot of care and time,not to mention money, and i dont give a hoot what people say at least i have tried and if i fail ,well that makes me a better person for attempting it rather than sat back in my armchair saying ” wish i could of done that ” .

Well that my gripe for the day so i wish you one and all happy boating whilst the weather lasts and spare a thought for the security guard when you go shopping next as he/she has to stay indoors in all this nice weather.

So back to the main point a small but powerfull wter pump to shoot water through 2 x 5mm brass tubes approx 60mm in length .

A car windscreen washer unit would seem to be one obvious option. You will need the full 12 volts to operate it though.

 

Maybe people would envy you in a nice air conditioned shopping mall….

Colin i had thought of that but would ineed a seperate 12 volt supply just for this motor OR could i run it off the main drive battery ???

Do V W cars still run a 6v system? I had one back in the 1970s and it was 6v battery. just a thought.

Model Motors Direct certainley used to do a 4.8-6v mini pump.

He has a website but that seems to be down at the moment , the tel number on the leaflet is 01747 812440 , he tends to be at a lot of the model shows.., might be worth a call.

 

If I can find mine I will put a picture up , it is just bigger than a pp3 battery from memory

Forget a 6v supply – you’re doubling the problem to start with. If you want power then you want volts, but you don’t need a thumping great big battery as you won’t be operating the pump all of the time. I’d suggest a Graupner #1951 pump on 12v. Cornwall Model Boats stocks these (along with many other traders). Maybe a 3.3AH battery would do nicely – check out Component Shop.
