Unread messages

I see I now have two unread messages listed – but I can’t find them!

That is what I have been doing for a number of years, but it certainly doesn’t work now.   I have two unread messages now, but I have read them, and replied to them, and they were from you!

Ah, I see what you mean now. I’m afraid this is one of the more idiotic features of WordPress or the way it has been set up. It was discussed a while back on the ME site.

You will see that under ‘Unread‘ is ‘Delete‘ and above both of these is ‘Actions‘

By some imcomprehensible application of logic, Unread is actually an action so you can mark a Read message as Unread. Why you might want to do this is anyone’s guess.

Unless anyone can put me right, there doesn’t appear to be a flag indicating that your message has been read by the recipient as there was on the old forum.

Hopefully that explanation has brightened up everyone’s day….
