I wonder if anyone can help me?

 

Last summer I spent £30 on a RC POWERBOAT: Apple Toys #9501-2, ~30 cm long, 7.2V NiCd batteries, 27 MHz, immersion sensor cuts the screws when out of water. Great fun last summer on boating lakes + beach at low tide. A bit of water ingress due to no gaskets, but I air-dried it carefully before storing.

 

But this year the screws will not turn, only clicking heard when I try to start them in a sink, not freed by WD40, batteries + RC are fine. Any suggestions or just irreparable corrosion, ie I wasted my money Could the sensor be faulty?

 

Help appreciated. Just a beginner so be kind …

Could try shorting the sensor, or applying a battery directly across the motors to see if they turn ok (assuming the connections can be got to). May be best to disconnect the esc first, never know.

 

It  may be a dodgy connection, some of these things have absurdly thin wires on them, could even be the battery not holding charge/low voltage (test with meter).  we assume that the propshaft/motor turns freely enough (manually) ?

 

Salt water is the enemy of model boat metal bits. Drying is rarely enough, rinsing is the way forward…or not, in your  case !!
