That foreman is probably saying " its going rusty and we’ve not launched it yet"

I suppose it got a good overall paint job or two before it was finally tipped in hey.

        Thanks Peter

I have often wondered what the paint was like in 1858?……..No B&Q in those days!

Can you imagine painting a ship 700 feet long ……by hand?

          Hi Bob

Paint in those days was probably full of LEAD !! and no rollers on poles either

How’s the weathering going on the deck cabins and fittings

            Hi!..Ducky!

Lead is correct……..would have made really good sea going paint……….I can remember reading adverts for paint in the 50`s and it was always lead paint.

Latest position on GE……..Bearing housings glued inside hull….paddle shaft made……..all deck furniture finished and being weathered and abused every few hours……now working on deck planking and hatch covers

Got to think about the motors more seriously………if 540`s powered JD sufficiently……then 850`s should do the trick.

Still very happy building the great ship!

                Dear All

A great way to get a rust effect is to glue steel filings onto the areas where you want the rust to be, leave the model out over night and "bingo" real rust effect all you do then is varnish over it to seal it in.
