Hi, could anyone out there let me know where In the UK I could purchase the kit for the Precedent Perkasa torpedo boat kit 49 inch in wood.

I have been looking for a while but without success. I have built several fire boats and others, in the past, including model aircraft many years ago. For some reason at the age of seventy I have been gripped with a desire to start again. This torpedo boat has been at the back of my mind for a few years now.

So I have decided to scratch this itch, if I can find the kit.

      Many thanks Pete Davis

This kit has been out of production for several years. You'll be very lucky – and I use the term advisedly – if you can find an untouched example. I say that because the later kits were so poor in quality as to make them almost 'unbuildable'.
You'd be better off buying a plan of HMS Brave Borderer and working from that.

              Here's a plan for a 36" version. **LINK**

A hull is also available, albeit for a rather dubious price. Bon voyage!

As Dave says, essentially the same thing.

A scratch built model may take a bit more effort that a kit but it is all yours and there is no reason at all why you should not make a success of it with a bit of care and attention. Age brings patience.

I am 70 too so go for it!

Hello Peter ,I bought a kit for the 49 inch perk 6 years ago and as DM says it was truly awful ,i kid you not 90% of it was unusable , i ended up getting my hands on a as new GRP hull and even that was so badly twisted i had to make fixture to pull the twist out while i made and fitted the bulk heads i made the rest from scratch . There are plenty of people out there making MTB hulls at that scale ( 1/24 ) ,I have plans for the Perkasa that i could copy for you so you could build the rest from scratch if i wanted .

Hi Dave, Many thanks for your input, I would very much appreciate a copy of the plans.

Perhaps you could let me know how you could get them to me, and I will of course cover costs.

                      Thank you very much.

Ok Peter ,I am going away tomorrow for 3 weeks this will give you time to source a hull, B.T.W a big positive of GRP hulls is they are much lighter and more spacey inside due to the fact you don't need as many bulk heads ect to stiffen it up , just pm me when you are ready for the plans.

Hi, I have an unfinished 1/24th scale KD Perkasa GRP hull with balsa wood fittings that has been dormant in my attic for well over 20 years. What I am after is any form of paperwork on the building of this model. When I first bought this I also bought an ic engine to fit in it but was unable to get it running on bench test. Needless to say other pastimes overtook this and it ended up on hold for a later date, now is that later date and I am unable to find the instructions for the build. If anyone could help I would be most grateful.
