          wheelhouse 6.jpgwheelhouse 5.jpgwheelhouse 4.jpgwheelhouse 3.jpgstern magnet mount.jpgstern 3.jpgforward magnet mount.jpgHI All

Stripped the boat down and started repairing the wheelhouse(broken between the forward and stern sections).

Run the stringers forward into the forward section to add more strength .

Started cleaning up the deck, what mess.

The amount of glue around the torpedo mounts was like a flood.

Also started making all the add-ons for the deck.

          Well the primer/undercoat dries quick.

Today was 33 degrees, but boy it dropped about four hours later to 16 !!!!

          That's Tasmanian weather !!!!

            weight.jpglifted hold boat.jpghull with cabin.jpgcabin rear magnet.jpgcabin forward magnets.jpgHI All

A bit side line today, over at a mates place ballasting his new TID Tug.

            Fixing a wiring problem.

Back to the Perkasa and only a cabin lift to see if the three double 10mm magnets hold.

By cabin hold I can lift the whole boat with battery by the cabin !!!!!!

A bit of rust is OK, but the chains pass it !!!

More work on the cabin and added some of my pre made bits.

Started on hull, same as the other one around the rudder !!!

A very large dip in the hull and I have not started on the rest of the bottom.

I know it's as rough as the other one, time will tell !!!

                      bottom 1.jpgbottom 2.jpgbottom 3.jpgbottom 4.jpgbottom 5.jpgbottom 6.jpgbottom 7.jpgHi All

Well from bad to worse, the hull from hell !!!

Two days of mess and a few words of the four letter size !!!bottom 8.jpg

Did a good sand down of the rest of the hull and a spray coat of filler/undercoat.

                      A piece of cake !!!!

A hour later it was all cracked paint and the under paint was soft.

Started scrapping of the paint !!!

Layers and layers of the stuff !!!

                      RED.

                      DARK GREY.

                      DARK GREEN.

                      LIGHT GREY.

                      RED OXIDE.

I think the hull is a pound lighter.

Start cleaning up the sticky mess including my hands.

Only the very poor hull to filler and get to a good standard.

I have the bottom to a 90% point, so I am OK with it.

As I said it was a dog's dinner, but its going to be a dam better looking boat.

                          Hi All and Chris

More filler/undercoat on the hull and deck !!!

As you all can see the white high spots on the hull.

The deck is ready for paint.

Also remade the stern add-on bit which was only a plywood sheet with support timber squares.

I am very happy with it.

                          Getting close to paint !!!

Yes Chris all the do-dahs are gone !!!

Finally some paint on the boat with Matt 37 on the bottom.

Whilst this was harding up I made anew boat stand(straight copy from the other stand) but use western red cedar.

Added white 37mm door stops to keep the bottom of the stand clean and also stops it moving around in the car.

                                          Hi All

I had a busy morning on the video camera.

None of the slow boat owners would drive the beast !!!

So no video of the boat.

The boat ran spot on, but the extra two degrees on the rudder did not make a big difference .

I think it's more of the hull design.

On the upside the D3548/4- 1100kv 910 Watt motor pushed the same 37mm 3blade prop better and the boat level back to the correct angle.

The bottom stand level with the curve of the bow out of the water.

Is must say at this point we are at double scale speed!!!

At scale speed the boat turns very nice, but likes larger turning circles.

Hope to post some pics later.

                                                Very nice Harry.

I have a 49" Perkasa that I am planning on converting to brushless. It needs a bit of work, some parts re-attaching and some parts remaking.

My father and I fitted a 25cc hedge trimmer engine to it when we built it in the 80's. Now that motor and battery technology have moved on so much, I think it's the sensible route to go.
