      Hi Ray

The Myford went to a good home

I donated it to Manchester Science Museum young engineers club

Along with a few more bits and pieces

One of their instructors was a member of Etherow club….Terry Burnett

I had good reason at the time

        Hi Bob ,

That's a good call letting somebody have the opportunity to use the Myford 😄 I was turning at 8 years old 😄

I've only got a few models and I only have to think about another and Helen asks (she spotted the Huntsman 31 on the PC the other day) where am I going to put it! I want to keep them in the house really. The garage is dry but full of motorbikes and associated stuff!

            Hi Ray

The essence of a trip boat captured perfectly. I can small the fish n chips and hear the seagulls.

            Well done!

              Hi Tim,Eddie & Chris

Yes I'm getting there with this one now thinking about fold down benches for fishing trips out of season, and have found some tiny brass hinges.

I must confess I'm feeling left out now because of the Huntsman builds sweeping the forum, I never did put my H31 on the water, there are some photos of her in my album.

              Regards Ray

                  Hi All,

As we maybe boating soon I started installing the gear in the trip boat, the rudder servo extension lead runs under the the cockpit floor boards, I'm starting to use a hot glue gun for securing the lead in notches cut out of the frames, the glue works a treat and only £5 😄✔,

Glad you went with the 4 window front Ray – it looks unique now a truly nice true scratch build. .

We are still banned from beaches etc – so no sailing other than in the bath – miss the 10m swimming pool in the old property – but not the time & cost of maintenance – ( pop pops did well in there too – but the chlorine was also slightly corrosive……..)

Lovely boat, similar layout ! But not a real boat at all, it's moulded from that plastic stuff 😄

                            Hi Chris,

Yes the first month of lockdown being furloughed I was busy, and yes I hope she will be published in Model Boats at some stage, but Lindsey must have a back log of designs to publish. Osprey is just getting some more details added currently, I have PM'd you about the drawings

                            Regards Ray

And thanks Chris for your kind comments about Osprey, here's an update, splashed out on a speed controller and started recruiting the crew which consists of Harry Potter & a Doctor Who chap, we are going to need more 😀👍

Glad to see you feel the same way about "Plastic Bottles" Ray – cant stand the b things . Stuff was hailed as a miracle ever lasting – now its a big problem to get rid of – old GF boats are a real menace eco wise.

What sort of ESC/Motor combo are you using in that great looking launch ? Imagine the real version would not plane – one on a trip to Polperro on was slow but very pleasant

Always amazed at the speed of your builds however……….

                                    Hi Peter,

Yes GRP boats are currently putting chain saw sales through the roof 😮 the full-size boat owners are now giving away their craft to a good home to save marina & storage costs, I've been there and have the tee shirt 😀 happy with models these day.

I'm rather wary of telling you the power train for Osprey 😮 because the technical crew on this forum will shoot me me down 😀 I have a box of 30 – 40 motors under the bench form my early brushed electric flight days, I pick one and in it goes, in this case a 600 size driving a 25mm 3 blade brass prop from the scrap box, nice new Mtronics 20A speed controller, running off the smaller size 7 cell battery pack up the front mainly because I want to keep the cockpit clear this will require lead ballast at the stern under the floor boards. Not aiming for a planing performance, but we will see 😀

                                    Regards Ray

Nothing wrong with the old brushed motors – also have a large stock of them – including 7 of 480bb's from Overlander which are a personal favourite – need slightly more than 7.2v for optimum power – 8.4 v does the trick – quite easy to add a cell as there is also a need for 6v sets – so 2 identical Buggy Sub c 7.2v packs fit the bill………

Have found that low speed maneuvering with brushless motors is not nearly as good – so there are applications where brushed motor control is better – geared 385's provide plenty of power for smaller tugs etc – and 280's with gearboxes intended for aircraft power 2 small fishing boast very well indeed.

Tend to avoid the amp hungry 540's types – athough running on 3v they are still powerful enough torque wise but use far less amps

                                        osp 1 170721.jpgHi All,

This is a blast from the past, my first lockdown build from last year, performed well under blue skies at the Chantry Club at Bluewater, many comments from my mates Peter & Phil about fishermen with rods and lines being required ! or a big Shark chasing her round the lake, have a look at the first post on this thread to see where the idea came from

I ended up with a 6 cell pack under a central bench seat in the cockpit, no ballast required.

Pleased with the end result .

                                        Regards Rayosp 2 170721.jpg
