      p1010065.jpgp1010064.jpgp1010063.jpgp1010062.jpgHi All

Whilst this is my mate's boat and he is recovering from an operation.

I am fixing up his boat for him.

He is the club go to guy for machining and welding, also the keeper of the plans!!!

The boat started as IC and when he received the boat it was in poor condition.

      First motor was a 3639-750kv on 3S.

      Next was a 3639-1100kv on 3S.

The 3S battery dropped a few cells, so, it was replaced by a 4S 5800mah 40C.

With all this upgrade the boat still handle all weather at a very fast pace.

So, this step was another upgrade in motor to a 3648-1450kv.

This the boat handle no problems, but, with no cooling the motor was getting to HOT!!

As it had no air flow in the boat, I installed a 12 volt old computer fan and two air scoops at the rear.

Ran the boat at the last club meet and drove it like it was stolen !!!

The motor temperature was about a third after a very hard 10 minute run.

I also bling up his transmitter to match the boat.

Harry, sir. I would take the job on but the seating arrangement looks a bit uncomfortable.

Like the name as well. Probably not to everyones taste….

Did I read that a ferry in Oz had actually been named Ferry McFerryface (after the UK polar ship naming fiasco)??

                    Hi Dave

                    Thank you for the link.

Our club go to member is back on his feet and I may see him tomorrow night.

As I phone him each few days to see how he is, yesterday he said he was remodelling the barge wheelhouse.

He thinks I am regluing his old stuff back in place on the Spearfish!!!

Yes mate, trim a few bits and pieces!!!

It is small price to pay back to a member who has been the centre of the club for years.

I would not have thought that the name would be uncommon, it is too obvious.

Drat!! Job taken!. It is DM`s twin brother, surely??

Hi. I know this is an old thread but I wondered what rubbing strip you've used on this Spearfish?

I had a Spearfish back in the early 80s, powered by a good old Merco 61…. haha.

Just got hold of another now and converting it to brushless. I'm planning on repainting the superstructure in a very pale blue, as in the later full-size ones and have been trying to find a white rubbing strip to go around the edge, as in the one Harry has used but can only find spongy stuff….

Kev. Car trim suppliers are a good source of this sort of thing. Woolies is a name I remember, but an ebay search will probably find what you want.

You can use plastic tubing and split it lengthways but its a tricky job.
