I'm opting to get myself a Johnson HP motor for my 1999 triton SF18. In some forums I found that it is not recommended. If so, it'd be great to know why? Also is there any better alternatives?

Are you sure that this is the best place to ask that question?

Cecil. This is only a model boat forum, so your question is somewhat out of place here. I would suggest your question needs to go on a different forum.

              Hi Cecil,

Well the V6 150hp Johnson is the largest outboard recommended for your Ski Boat, but they seem to go ok on 115hp, what size do you have on it currently ??

Newer 4-stroke outboards are I guess less powerful than 2 strokes of the same hp ??

We had a Glastron with a tiny 50hp Mercury on the back was great for ski boat for beginners.

As the guys have said this is the forum for slightly smaller boats

              Regards Ray

A 150hp two stroke? I hate to think how much that drinks.

                  Hi Chris,

Yes that's why 4 – stroke are better economically and environmentally, you can't buy small new 2 – stroke outboards here any more !!

                  Regards Ray

                    Hi Tony,

That does sound logical as Mr Spock would say.

Maybe he is a Model Bot Enthusiast ??

Still entertaining !! we will reply to any Bot eeee

                    Regards Ray

I've had my doubts about Ashley for a while. He produces model boats so fast it must be an automated process!
