This is a very nice example of an old classic, I do like the decking which must have taken a long time to complete to this standard.
As for the reciever switch, and following an stupid accident with a valuable model of my own, I think that is is well positioned as it gives quick and easy access to a vital piece of equipment.

Very nice model.  I thought though that this is the Fairey Swordsman not the Huntsman 31 (which had an aft cabin).  Nice all the same.  Switch position is ideal and probably nicely discrete at the Lake side.  How is it powered and what length (31"?)

Two versions of the Huntsman 31 were built, one with an aft cabin and one with an open aft deck

I am always amazed at what some people can find on a lovely boat to be critical about?

A blind man would be happy to see it, as my old grandad would say.

he would also say. "if thar cans’t doo better lad, thin show me"

                Neil,

The one I was always told — nowt that a man on a dashing horse would notice!!,  at 100 yards.

nowt = nothing in lanky dialect.

                Tony.

I’m also lancashire lad, ( Fleetwood ) born and bread, and you’re right in what you say, Tony.

I just can’t believe some people sometimes, and that is why I never ever show my models at competative exhibitions.

                  cheers,neil.

I think the poster is refering to the little red on/off switch down under the control panel in the cockpit.

A totally blatant place to put it, me thinks….. stands out like a sore thumb,NOT.

Now be told Huntsman You have been chastised,DON’T DO IT AGAIN!

Joking aside, Huntsman, if that early critisism is the only thing you have to worry about in your building (and I sincerely say, it looks a lovely boat, and very well painted and finished) you have nothing to worry about, and if someone has to nit pick by finding something to moan about such as they did, they really should get out a little more and get a life!

ALSO, and in no way a criticism on this very nice boat.. Personally I do like to see POEPLE on boats. I dont know if there are any to go with this example, but I feel that these things can look a bit lifeless, or even silly, with no-one at the helm. Is it that a majority of this type of vessel are never completed with pilots? thoughts on that please.

Being a newcomer to model boats in general, and primarily an armour modeller, I often wonder that so many model boats are depicted without crew. One of the biggest differences between the two types of modelling, leaving aside the differeing subject matters, is the pristine cleanliness of many of the boats I see. Only in a few examples have I seen realsitic attempts at weathering, and crew members, where I have seen them, are often ‘blocky’ figures and quite unrealistic. Does this generally reflect what’s available, or is realism as far as weathering and crew figures are concerned, unimportant?

On the figures Vinnie, I think you have hit it on the heasd so to speak, ad that is that unless you convert other figures such as  pit crew or army figures thate has until recently been very little in that way on the market, andbecause of that the older modeler has grown up with models devoid of crew, and are reluctant to shange.

also for the average modeler, who can make a beautiful model, the actual modeling of figurines is a somewhat specialised process and not one which most modelers want to set about doing. I for one would feel alien about making figures, being somewhat childish and plastecine type in my process.

give me a clinker lifeboat or a radar mast anyday.neil.
