No, I don’t think you have offended anyone, probably you have stumped everybody , also when you try to enlarge the pictures I get error messages that the picture is not avaialable.

You will get an answer at some stage.

I also seem to be unable to open the pictures so perhaps they need re-posting

Wow. Thats all I can say. Some task there for restoration!  looks like contacts to power the lift off top at the front there…the rest  ??  It would be a real treat to see it running as intended with all that…stuff..working correctly. I should think you would spend hours figuring out the electrics before even attempting any thing else.

I would advise a special aluminium primer coat before repainting, if thats what you intend to do.

It must be a commercial boat with an ally hull and superstructure? are there no makers marks or tiny transfers anywhere?

This has a vague similarity to an old Vic Smeed design called ‘Lorraine’.  though the plans were for a 54” length x 12”beam hull. it could have been re-scaled.  It was described as having ‘an ingenious construction giving a choice of methods and either a hard chine or rounded hull.’  I have a copy of the 1998 Model Boats Plans Service catalogue which gives the plan number as MM 512.
I may be totally wrong of couse…. John w

It does have the look of a Vic Smeed design but I disagree with Ashley about it being a commercial product as the lines of the hull are irregular and if you take the C/L along the keel the R/H & L/H are not mirror images.

Nice model though and it will look a stunner when restored.

There was a question mark in there.

But its a lot of work for a home made job, unless they were a panel beater or a tinsmith etc

My brother had a gas speedboat a while ago and he needed a fuel tank, you know, shaped to fit around all the bits and bobs, and he was working at Hawker Siddely in Kingston at the time (just shows how long ago it was).

We did a sketch and he gave this to an aircraft grade sheet matal man in the workshop, and he made an absolutely spiffing tank, beautiful, a work of art AND pressure tested to boot, welded in Harrier grade alloy naturally. Took him a couple of lunchtimes.

When you know what to do of course these things are easy
