I have been setting up my Eezebit PT Boat wth it's brushless motor and Esc.

The Esc is a Marine V3 30 amp from Component Shop. Initial setup with Program card was a Ok. On testing with my Futaba 6EX the Motor seemed to run faster in reverse.

Noticed in the instructions that with Futaba TX the throttle should be set to Rev, this gave the motor running in reverse with the throttle stick pushed forward, so I changed 2 of the motor leads over to give a forward running motor on pushing the throttle forward.

But why do Futaba TX need the throttle set to REV?

The electrical signals from the receiver to the servos and speed controller are pulses of voltage which vary in length between something like 1ms to 2ms. The length of the pulse determines the position of the servo output disc or the speed & direction of the motor. I forget which way round it is but Futaba are unique in allocating a long signal pulse for fast throttle whereas every other manufacturer uses a short pulse [or vice versa]. That's why a lot of brushed motor ESCs which are 'forward only' need the Futaba throttle servo reverse switch to be changed to REV – or full back stick is motor flat out!

Futaba have other even more annoying protocols when it comes to signal pulses, but in this case what you don't know can't hurt you!

            Thanks Dave

It's to understand why you need to change something like that.

Nearly finished with the PT Boat.

I'll be bugging you with queries on a Huntsman next.

            Still thinking about the S100.

            Thanks

            Tim
