Does anybody know where i can get a list of the model boat shows which are taking place in 2008 and their respective dates?

Surprisingly there is no definitive calendar other than what gets reported in the magazine , however there are 3 forums who all have calendars attached and between these 3 you should capture pretty well all events , clubs as well as the big ones.. This forum also has an events thread which details various shows..

Thanks guys. its hard to get to these things as i work away a lot, i’m currently sitting about a km of an algerian beach laying pipes whilst i type here..  heres a pic of the vessel – http://home.netpower.no/joje/frames/vaer/bilder/slep1.jpg      feel free to build a scale model of it!

 i live in north yorkshire and hate driving, especially these days with the price of fuel and the time consuming delays in traffic, especially if i have to drive really far south….

Hi Dan,

Cheeky of me to ask, but you could just the kind of guy I’m looking for !

I’m building a model of Pacific Buccaneer, similar to the one your on, and I’m having problems with the lifeboat – I have a aerial line drawing on the plan but no side elevation drawings. I’ve searched the net and can not find any photos showing details of the lifeboat.

Any chance of you taking a couple of photos and posting them ?

There should be a temporary boating pool and model shops selling boating spares (amongst other things) at the Wings and Wheels Model Show to be held at North Weald Airfield (M11 nr Harlow) over the weekend of 28-29 June (admission £9!)

– its worth going just to see the scale jet aircraft fitted with real gas turbine jet engines – hope this helps.

Hi ken,

erm… yeah can take a few pictures for you. dont know if they are the same sort of lifeboat you are looking for but will certainly take a few. our lifeboats & davits were changed for brand spankers just under a year ago when the vessel had a major makeover. these things are pretty big, they hold about 130 persons. we have 5 in total, 4x 130 persons and a smaller one. will take pictures of both for you. if you reply back with you email address i will send whatever i can take.

Much obliged,  [email protected]  any photos would be welcome.  Photos of the ship I have show almost everything except the lifeboat, the ones which do show it are too far off to see any detailing.
