Hello Silver Dollar
Welcome to the fraternity of model boat builders.
In response to your question regarding adhesive I would recommend the following.
Check with the manufacturers recommendations for the correct glue to use and test whatever glue you buy on a scrap piece of plastic (one of the sprigs) the test will give you a good idea of how much play time you will have with the glue before the parts set firm, the test will also confirm if the glue is compatible with your model.
Robert is right when he says that you will need to resin the seams of the hull to make them watertight this can be done by running a bead of adhesive along the seam, try and do both the inside and outside of the hull.
Finally is the model suitable for radio control or will you have to strengthen it to take the extra loads?
I hope that you enjoy building your first model and I look forward to seeing some pictures on the gallery section, if you get stuck at any point during the build please ask and one of us will be more than glad to help.
All the best
Paul
