Hi everyone, hope someone can help me.

After my grandad passed away we cleared his house and I found this

Asked a mate who’s in the know and he says it’s an unusual type of model. Made of balsawood and powered, it’s made by a company called PBM. I’ve looked into them on the internet but can’t find anything about them.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

       Many Thanks

      Jamie

        Hi James,

PBM (Patrick Blunt Models) no longer exist. They offered a few kits, I remember building one in the mid 80’s. The most popular model kit they manufactured was an Edwardian Paddle Steamer. This was a lovely kit, 33" long, which in common with a lot of smaller paddlers, suffered stability problems. Nevertheless they still bring a good price when the appear on ebay.

Do you plan to build your kit?

        Tony.

Is it Peter or Wendy?   Do we really want to go into that?

hi wendy/peter the zwarte zee was a model kit made by Billings, originally it was a wood hull (plank on frame) but is still available today with an ABS (Plastic hull) from most model shops at around the £100 mark (no vinnie thats not another name!)

the model was of a 1960s ocean going tug from the Smit fleet in Holland.
