rudder servo and oiler.jpgprop drive and rudder.jpgHi All

Having a big crack at finishing the boat.

Installed the full drive line with motor and connected up the motor mount watercooling.

I do not think it requires it, but, the holes where in the transom so I ran silicon fuel tubing as I had it in my spares.

Larry. Looks great. Like the windscreens, not keen on the lime green colour. Like the surface drive arrangement.

Boat is very flat isn't it? Didn't appreciate just how flat is was from first snaps.

          keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

            Hi Ashley

The colour is YELLOW, but, some of the pics came out with a green-yellow look!!!

The surface drive system is a total experiment with the 4mm flex drive.

I think I am into some fun setting this beast up!!!

Talk to a guy that had one, they did not turn to well.

I bought a pair of turn fins which bolt onto the transom.

            That's the next job !!!

Probably the problem with turning is the very flat hull and no grippy bits to grab the water in the turn. Those turn fins hardly look big enough BUT the proof will be in the pudding eating..

Perhaps a test with and without the fins might be interesting.

Yellow, nice colour. How about hiding the silicon tube water outlet with a nice "go faster" brass/chrome exhaust tube?? Ashley

                    Hi Ashley

The original turn fin was about the size of one of these and all the new setups have the turn fins on the transom.

So in for a penny or in for a pound!!!

                    Bit early for Christmas pudding!!!

I think two rows of six exhaust pipes up through the rear hatch with flashing red LED lights would be more beastly!!!

I will see what it goes like first !!!

                      Hi All

The boat had it's first run which was not great.

The prop angle pushed the boat like a tug and the battery is in the wrong place(forward of the motor).

I added weight to the stern with a spanner and a few bits.

The prop was to small so I changed to a 45mm 2 blade one.

Second run was a bit better with the boat up on the plane.

                      Turning was a little poor.

So back to the workshop and checked the CG.

                      Removed the spanner and bits.

Moved the battery to the transom and upgrading from 3700 to 5800 mah.

Changed the prop from plastic to a CNC 2 blade 45mm and changed the prop angle to get the bow up.

Also angle back the rudder and turn fins by about 4 degrees.

The CG has moved back 20mm !!!

I am still using the car ESC, but, may change to a 120Amp water cooled ESC if the CG requires to go more to the stern.

Increased the rudder throw and dropping the turn fins down to their maximum.

The next run will give me a better idea of CG etc.

It's going to be a problem child, not like the SG&K Runabout spot on right from the start.

                      Harry Smith
