Hi. Dave, we are keeping safe down here in Kent, the food parcels are being delivered each weeksmiley.

I have uploaded the photos of Reperter, in the TSB Reperter & Mirosa album, the latter I will do later today.

Reperter is a steel hull and Mirosa is very similar to Veronica.

Hope you are all keeping safe.

            Regards.

            Eddie.

                Hi All,

Well I thought using a moulded hull made by somebody else (thanks Dave Watts) would be cheating but I think it probably takes just as long as building one from scratch !! still here we are with todays progress update.

Now we have all the bulkheads bonded in place now, so onto the shroud attachment points and the tube for attaching the false keel, we have one gentleman in AMBO from Cornwall who sails with working steel lee boards & no keel, but the barge won't beat to windward very well, but as a purist is doing it properly

I see on the AMBO facebook page, Dave is working on a 1/24th scale Giralda 42" grp hull, which will be a flyer if it's as good as my 30"version of Giralda, moulding by Peter Fisher from Selsey.

Peggy is a good looking barge.

I am in that first photo on the extreme left, in front of the kiosk, so we have metsmiley.

                                img_20200503_123456.jpgHi Guys

I'm the little fella on the right, who thought it was shorts weather 😀

Chantry/Bluwater is one of my home waters, but the wind down in an o!d quarry has been known to come from all directions !!!

Well the keel bolt tube has been turned from brass with Shoulder to sit on the ply strip and the top held by a ply cross member and a washer soldered on top, has a lot of folk use this as a handle to lift the whole barge so it needs to be sturdy, we have borrowed Veronica's stand and fitted the spare keel I have courtesy of Peter Simmonds 👍

Good comparison old & new sailing with my Dragon Flite in the background.

                                Dave,

BTW Peggy looks great, I hope she isn't too fast !!!😮⛵

You needed to let the glue dry, free up some of the clamps.

                                        Keep at it.

I have all my clamps on a hardboard strip pinned to a shelf, so I know where they are. I seem to have hundreds, but whenever I get into the clamping situation, there never seems to be enough!!

Yes, I should buy some more. Its amazing how many you can need looking at that snap.

                                                Hi All,

I think get to hull complete and put it to one side, as Eddie knows the rig is the hard part mast spars & sails……. and string.

My little plastic clamps came free with Poundland 5min epoxy twin tubes, but recently they only give you a plastic stirring stick

I seem to be dodging the painting and decorating, I'm currently hiding in the shed, but have to break cover for meals and to Hoover the house

Keep safe I think we may escape soon

I like that your so hopeful of being released soon. The 70 year olds were told at the start to isolate for 12 weeks so that takes me to June sometime. At least the garden will be finished by then!

My son lives in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, they have just come out of lockdown with no restrictions except a one metre social distancing. He says the roads ars packed with cars and the restaurants are full with queues outside.

Be interesting to see if they have more virus cases now.

B&Q are open here in Nottingham now don't know what the queues are like, but when they tried click and collect it caused a traffic jam.

The difficult part of the sails and rigging is knowing how far to go with scale fittings and operation, and when to give in to ease of use, Ray put me right on the position of the running back stays because you cannot operate them as in full size. so they have to be moved forward to clear the mainsail when it is fully let out.

                                                    Eddie.
