        Thanks Paul

But we`ve been using 35 MHz aircraft transmitters for years years now. but I think they have been adapted to operate on 40 meg?

        And thank you Tim

I was looking for the actual crystal. I can see the socket now. I thought that was a Buddy Socket. I wasn`t expecting to see an empty space

What a silly Billy I am today?

          Hi Bob

I don't know how I managed to mess up my posting but yes the T6EXAP was developed for aircraft on the restricted 35MHz frequency but I believe that a few were set to the 40MHz frequency (as shown by Tim)

The empty socket is indeed for the crystal, but now you have the added problem of having to find the crystal for the transmitter and receiver.

I have looked in all my boxes of bits but don't have any suitable crystals as I would have gladly sent you a set.

Not a problem, Paul, I`ve got plenty of Crystals

In fact, I`ve got the motors and rudder working…….BUT NECESSARYLY IN THE RIGHT ORDER!

The TX has five different proGs stored within and the prog it`s on now, is not the correct one

The process of clicking to the other progs is not obvious at the moment

I used to be quite fluent with this barmy Tranny, but not now

If somebody out there can tell which button to press to select the next prog, I would be most grateful

Virtually all my stuff is only two channel working.

My collection of 27m transmitters is great, and the Planet sets are also great.

One transmitter, bunch of bound receivers….easy.

                Bob

                Turn radio set on.

Press Mode and Select together for a second, till set beeps.

Screen shows MODL and a number e.g. 1

Use the small switch at right hand side of screen to change number from 1……..6

Press Select button (left side of screen) to select that model.

I find it easier to turn the set off and on then. It will then display the model selected.

You May have to go through the six models that can be stored to find the one you want.

I think the model names can only be four letters long.

                Hope this helps.

                Tim

Thank Tim for the info and your kind patience too

I had forgotten about the two button press, no wonder, there was no response on the Tx screen

                  Must try harder

                  Fingers crossed, here goes……..

Bob, Not wishing to teach my (Great?) Grandmother how to suck eggs, just a suggestion, it might be worth having a read through the manual to refresh yourself as regards how things operate. The instruction to change models is on page 10 for instance.

It is well worth refamiliarising yourself with the operation of the radio to ensure that you don't encounter a challenge at the pondside when you may put your model at risk.

I hope this doesn't come across as condescending as I can assure you that we all suffer from exactly the same thing. Transmitters nowadays can be incredibly complex and gaining a level of familiarity with them is far from easy. I frequently have to refer to the manual to do something on mine that I haven't done for a while and simply forget where in the various menus the relevent command is. In the past you may well have caught me at the pondside swearing at myself as I try in vain to remember how to reverse the steering servo. Now I keep the manual in the tool box!

Richard, I hear what you are saying, but my short term memory is now quite a serious problem.

It is practically impossible to read an instruction book now.

I can remember most things that happened fifty or sixty years ago in great detail, but what happened yesterday is a mystery. I get by, by making notes on anything important

I hope I`m not becoming a nuisance, chaps

Managed to change the settings number at last

Will now try harder and reset the Tranny into a Twin Stick set up

                          No problem Bob

I have asked plenty of questions on the forum.

My problem is remembering people's names. Faces are no problem just can't always put a name to them.

                                Hello Captain Bob

I stopped using my multi channel 2.4 aircraft transmitters with my boats and bought a simple 2ch combo unit link far easier to use at the lakeside and cheap enough to replace if I drop it in the water.

                                  Ashley and Paul….

Thanks for your helpful suggestions, but I still need trannies with at least three channels

Due to multi motor set ups etc

Well perhaps a cheap 4 / 5/6 channel non-computer one then….with a bunch of receivers to put in the boats..

Why didn`t I think of this before?

The solution is obvious!…….Use the Tranny from last years Commodores Challenge. the MTB!

                                        It`s already set up too!

The Transmitter is for…..Would you believe it?…….An Aircraft. So I have no instructions to go off

The receiver is four channel with sockets for 1 2 3 4

I want the two vertical sticks to control the two motors

                                              UP to go forward

                                              DOWN to reverse

RH horizontal is for the rudder

                                              LH horizontal is not used

I would like to know the numbers that correspond to the above functions

                                              Can you help me please?

Just checked on my Radio link set. Assume it's the same on all sets.

                                                RH stick – up/ down – channel 2. Left /right channel 1

                                                LH stick -up /down – channel 3. Left / right channel 4.

Or connect a servo to the channels in turn and move a stick to check the response.

                                                  Hi Bob,

If it's a typical aeroplane set one of the vertical sticks will be spring loaded to centre for elevator and the other will have a ratchet for throttle, both of which it guess your going to remove for tank steering ??

                                                  Best Regards Ray
