      On Colin Bishop Said:

I do still have a garage full of motorbikes but don’t use them as much as I used to.

Very sensible! Older bikers have all the riding savvy and awareness but physical frailties eventually offset that due to declining reactions.

I used to love touring around France, Germany, and latterly Greece by car but the loss of an eye and slowing reactions due to age have put paid to that. Wonderful times but you need eyes in the back of your your head when driving abroad and if there is only one functioning eye then the risk level just shoots up. The local drivers take no prisoners!

      No fun in growing old.

      Colin

I would dearly love to have a trials bike – even a Bantam or, a Tiger Cub. I’ve even offered my wife an outfit with one of those dinky little sidecars ! I expect you can guess her reply…..With just a single garage (plus workshop extension), I’m afraid it has to remain a ‘pipe dream’. Anyway, I would probably wrap myself around the nearest tree as I haven’t ridden a bike since the ’70’s….

That’s my problem, lack of space, as I’ve only got a single garage as well. Four motorbikes in there including a CCM 644 Dual Sport which is going soon, a Triumph 1200 Scrambler and my older bike a 1973 Triumph Tiger 750. Also a 1962 Lambretta TV175 in my mother’s garage which I’ve got to move out soon as we’re selling the house.

I think one of the most enjoyable bikes I ever had was an old Kawasaki KL250 trail bike (Don’t like 2-strokes).  I used to go to and from college and then, at weekends I would ride around looking for signs such as “Unsuitable for motor vehicles”  I fell off it once, big knobbly tyres in snow, but got back on and didn’t think twice about it, and its the only bike I ever sold and made money on it.

            Hi Richard,

Do you ever watch Mike Waller’s YouTube channel ? He designs and builds trials bikes from parts of other bikes….

BSA’s, Triumph’s, Yamaha etc. He’s ‘Old School’ Yorkshire and quite amusing when things don’t go as planned !

              A quick question all,

Just how do we now include photos (and, photos in posts) in the new forum /website ?

I used to take a photo with my phone, then mail it to myself on my laptop and, from there into the old ‘Gallery’ section, and then into a post.

Q1. How do we do it now ?

Q2. Where are all my old gallery photos ?

              Confused of Wiltshire…..(Dave)

                  Hi Dave, I

If you want your old photos from one of your threads you can just download from the image on the thread 🙂

It works, I had to do this for the Oldenburg article just published in MB’s

                  Regards Ray

Thanks Colin and Ray. I will endeavour to master the mysteries of the new system !

                    Merry Christmas,

It’s a pity that some of the old galleries have disappeared and new ones aren’t being formed from posting, though of course they can be produced individually as required, but it’s certainly quicker and easier to import photos into posts now.

Quick tip Dave. If more than one photo, import them in reverse order and after each has been inserted, tab down after the text each time to make space for the curser before adding the next one.

                        Thanks Chris,

When the planking on my boat is a little more advanced, I’ll take an ‘up-to-date’ shot and try uploading it. Probably, in the New Year now if the past few weeks is anything to go by !

Do have a very Merry Christmas…

Planking proceeds at a painfully slow rate !

(Apologies, I haven’t found an easy way of re-sizing images yet).

But please, please, please, take those cupboard hinges off the stern !!!

                                  Hi Ray,

Back on the boat again after a spell recovering from chest pains….

The jury rig on the rudder hinges is just to check servo geometry and hinge alignment – don’t worry they’re not permanent !

By the way, could you just remind me of the single-arm type sail servo make/name ? Was it “Viper” ?

I’d like to order one soon as I don’t really fancy messing around with a drum-type winch….(I’ll get some decent hinges at the same time).

                                  Cheers,

                                  Dave

                                    Hi Dave,

These are the lever arm servo’s I use in my Thames barges, they are really good and reliable, my one and only experience with drum winches was not a happy one 🙁

You will need to mount the servo as far to one side to give you maximum travel and with a pulley on the arm you can 1 – 2 ratio in the sheet travel, I’d let the foresail self tack on a horse 🙂

                                    Regards RayHitec Lever servo 260125

                                      Thanks Ray,

I’ve used Hi-Tec servos before (in aircraft) and had good results…

Good idea for the jib(s) too.

                                      Cheers,
