Hello Everyone
I'm just making a return to boat modelling after a LONG gap (50 years).
To get started again I've just bought a very tired model of the bouy handler MV Conserver, which I believe has been built from the Model Slipway kit. I don't know the age of the model but the rc receiver is Futaba 27MHz 2 channel unit and the speed control is by a normal servo moving an arm on a variable resistance – so all that will need updating. The hull seems sound but pretty much everything from the deck up will need rebuilding or replacing. I've seen the very good photos uploaded by Mark Beard et all and believe me they will be VERY useful.
I'm wondering if anyone has a copy of the drawings/plans or instuctions that came with this kit originally that they could either let me have or copy for me, and I'm very happy to reimburse the costs of doing that.
I don't think this will be a fast turn round to get it back in the water, although provided floatation tests in the bath don't reveal anything too drastic then it might be a bit quicker than I at first thought as provided I can get the topside waterproof some "sea trials" might be in order to make sure that all's well.
I'll be needing new radio gear for it as well, I'm assuming that 2.4GHz is the way to go, and I'm thinking that a 5 or 7 channel set might be the best bet, as while overkill for this model, would allow me to be more ambitious with future models without having to re-equip. Any advice on that would be very welcome as the only books I have on radio control have valve circuits in them!
Apologies for such a long post, but looking forward to getting sailing again.
Keith
