Greetings from a Newbie !  I am  hoping to   get off    to a  gentle  start  and  have bought  the  Billing  Boats  ‘Dana 200’  kit.    I am  a bit  aghast at the  flimsiness of the  hull  which  was advertised  as ‘moulded’  but appears to  be  vacuum  formed.   Does anybody  knoiw  whether an  article  has been  published  anywhere  on   building  this  kit ?
Thanks    for  any assistance  you  can   give

          Hello Peter

I cant find a review in my archive but the Dana is not the kind of model that I would take note of.

You could try searching the interweb for a build review.

If you are the type of person who joins clubs I would suggest finding a local model boat club as there will be people who would help you with your first build.

The hull will appear flimsy until it is braced and the deck is fitted.

          Good luck

          Paul

            Dear Paul,
Thanks so much !  I would not  have started out  with  ‘DANA’  normally,   mainly interested  in British  coastal sail,   but after  having  rather a   major  crisis  in my life,  which is  appalling busy,    I decided to look for a   ‘quick and cheap’  project  which I  could  hope to finish in a reasonable  time.    I am  mainly a railway  modeller  but  I have prevously   dabbled  rather  unsuccessfully   in  plank on frame   and also  built the hull for a steam   launch   but  had  got bogged down with that  therefore new start.   I shall  take    photos  as the build  progresses and   maybe  somebody  would accept  an  article.   The instructions with the kit are  extremely   basic and they  just  say stick  the deck to the hull.  I completely disagree with this,  firstly I shall add internal  styrene   bracing to hull and  deck ( being careful  not to seal the hull   to avoid  solvent  being trapped)   and  shall not  stick  the  deck down until  I have planked and detailed  it.    I did try a web search  for reviews  with no  success.   Thanks again  for   your help.
