Hello to all here,

I am desperate to obtain a MacGregor MR200, OR MR240 OR MR260 Transmitter for operating my Vintage Boat it needs to be 27mhz and the push button type single channel single tone type transmitter they are hand held device in blue colour on the device itself. Can anyone sell me one please as I really need one for operating my very nice vintage boat please?

Can you assist please??

Hi Ian

I have a MacGregor single channel proportional set with 1 steering stick and a qwik blip button for throttle, same Blue style box as the push button version with which I flew a Veron Cardinal with in 1969 with an Elmic Conquest rubber powered escapement, Happy days if you landed back in the same field !! I'll photograph it over the weekend, does it have to work ??

Hello Ray,

I do not think that one will work on my boat it has to be a single channel single tone only push button no joy stick for operation so I am told so that is why I am seeking a blue push button control unit out there and I have seen them but just cannot get hold of one so I am sure there has to be some boat enthusiast out there that can offer me one for sale etc….any ideas please I really need help here in this one please??

Hi Ray, I'm guessing that your transmitter is a codemac, not a proportional. The conquest was not a proportional servo. If I'm correct, it should be ok for Ian. The stick just simulated the press / release, press prees release of the push button type.

Hello Chas,

I do not need a proportional device at all as it will not work for my boat I need a single push button type of device and I know a Macgregor MR200 or 260 will do the job if one is available for me please……no joy stick will function for me as they are digital proportional devices.

Hi All

Charles is probably right it's a codemac, I just remember it went left when you pushed the stick left, which was great compared to doing the sequential bang bang left-centre-right routine which I could never remember ! I did use it in a boat to give me straight, left & more left, at least I knew which way the boat was going to turn This gear is at least 50 years old I doubt it'll work now ? Although I have an Atari ST & Aerochopper flight sime which still works.

Hello Ray,

well it is worth a try is it not in me seeing if it works or not please??……I live in kent but its getting a unit that will do the job for me so I am willing to try it please?? A codemac, Macgregor and pathfinder single channel will all do the job as long as it is not digital proportional

HI Ian, I respectfully suggest you read my post again. I was explaining that the codemac was NOT proportional, that it has a simple system of simulating the coded button pressing we used to have to do. Single channel was fine when that was all we had, and regular users soon became accustomed to it. Newcomers soon became unstuck, and the codemac was a great step forward for them.

If you are going to try the Tx out, don't forget to check the crystal frequency. most sets were superhet by then, and if they don't match it won't work.

I liked the system when I was a boy, but would I even consider going back to using one now, not on your blooming nellie!

Ian , I have an RCS Guidance System , boxed and unused , which I think will be suitable for your needs since it is push button operation . Can't remember if its a Mk1 or Mk2 though. In addition , I also have a pair of unused Climax servos mounted on a common board as supplied new . I bought all from Hobbies , Shalesmoor ,Sheffield around 1962 .

The world has moved on and single channel sets from back then, while not criminally illegal, would be frowned upon if used near anybody else. Anybody else operating anywhere in the 27MHz band would likely swamp your receiver – any time you pressed your button, you would likely be a source of interference. The only good news there is that only a diminishing minority are using 27MHz.

Great point Malcolm, I think rcs only made superregen sets in single channel, a potentialy nasty problem if used today around other modelers, I think I remember that Macgregor were making mostly superhet sets by the time that the codemac came out, if so, no problem. I can't say I would like to risk a nice vintage model to 50 year old tricky to use technology though. I might help if we knew what exact model of receiver and actuator is in the boat

The Receiver is a Superhet 26.996mhz Receiver and the Servos are the FR64/3 Ergamite Futuba Special Pack all this is nice vintage equipment for sure and it would be wrong to rip it all out and go for the 2,4Ghz stuff this is vintage and I would like to keep it if possible that way at present so what help can you provide please as my quest is for a Transmitter please?

Is this what your looking for? From days gone by flying by the seat of my pants. Tx has plug in Xtals (27M band) think Rx is superregen, so not much use nowadays, servo/escape is rubber powered

Fair enough Ian, superhet is fine so either of the two transmitters offered should be fine with the right crystals.
