      pse help.  im busy building a twin engined tug boat (first time) and need to know how to install the motors with regards to counter rotating prop.  what are the various options  eg turn 1 motor around and use gears or is there an electronic option. what are all the options to simplify the installation.

        if you are using radio control which I presume you will, most sets these days have a polarity switch on them for each channel to reverse the way a servo or motor runs.

        The easiest way is to set up your system  as shown in the instructions in your speed controller paperwork, and once all set up just turn the polarity switches so that on forward motion of the boat in the water, your starboard prop turns clockwise and the port prop turns anti clockwise.

        If your system doesn’t have the little switches on THE TRANSMITTER it is simply, switch the leads to the motors  from the speed controllers the engines turn the way you want.

        NEVER SWITCH THE LEADS FROM THE SPEED CONTROLLERS TO THE BATTERY TO SWITCH THE DIRECTION OF THE MOTORS……………….YOU’LL DESTROY THE SPEED CONTROLLER.

          Hi Dennis     If you are using brushed  (ie normal ) motors swapping the leads to the motor over will reverse its direction, providing it is a premenant magnet motor most motors for models, battery drills etc are ,

          if you are going futuristic and using brushless motors then swopping over any two of the three motor leads will reverse direction.

          PLEASE note Neil’s warning do NOT reverse the connections between the battery and the speed controller no matter what type of motor you use
