Severn class RC life boat, seen in Caernarfon branch of Wales Air Ambulance charity shop.

      01286 669 352.

The wife spotted it late last week.

      Ticket price £100

I asked if they would drop the price a bit. No.

I asked if someone paid for it would they send it to them. No.

It's been in the shop since just before Xmas.

They said if it doesn't sell, they would put it on eBay and expect £140 for it.

      Looks brand new.

      Duty done.

A charity well worth supporting I feel.

Dam, forgotten how to post a picture, help please…

Please, how do I post a picture ?

It's easy to email a picture but I am having troubles posting a picture.

Looks more like a toy rather than a spot on scale model. I didn't measure the box or open it. It may even be an RNLI special ?

            Approx box dimensions…

            30 inches long ? 15 inches wide ? 12 inches tall ?

Dimensions are guesstimates and from memory.

If the wife is going to town today I will make sure she takes a tape measure, pen and paper with her.

I have a picture in my phone but am having troubles posting it on here…

Had a look on eBay and RNLI shop, nothing seen of this particular product.

Box is very glossy with large window to display model. 2.4 radio, Cresent shaped rather than square tx.

Next time I am in town I will take a better look. Thinking this may well be an RNLI special ?

Bingo, picture now in my album. The white paper sticking out from under the box is 6 inches wide, which gives you a better idea as to box dimensions.

                1:20 scale model…

Once you've put the picture in your own album Rich you can then embed it into a post so people can see it as they read your text. The little camera icon at the top of the posting window does it for you.

Plus it can be clicked on to give an instant full size version of the picture.

This was a RTR which if I remember was about £40 or £50 when new. Indifferent performance from the all-or-nothing left-right control, and simply fwd/back. Small cheap motors running underwater in pods…probably the weakest point for the model.

BUT very nice model for the original price, and at the time you could get upgrade items to turn it into a decent boat.

Loads of people, including myself, converted them to “proper” radio control with either single or twin 280’s or whatever, but inevitably they were heavier than the original…but didn’t half go!!

£140 on e-bay?.? Hmmmm there’s one asking £165 and one for £100. Wether they get that price you would have to watch them. It’s quite a small model bobbing about on the pond.

the one at 160 started off early last year at £350, then 300…..down to 250, then 200, and now at 165 quid

totally overpriced by people thinking they are becoming collectors items…….but the problem was that the "waterproof" motor/propellor pods leaked faster than seives, and soon gave up the ghost……..unrepairable and people converted them to "proper" rc gear………at which point they were good sailers but had lost all collectability as an appreciating asset…..one day in the distant future they may be worth 300 quid, but i doubt in my lifetime.
