A few of you might be aware that in my other incarnation I have been attempting over the last year or so to dispose of a friends late husband’s modelling stash. Whilst his main interests were armour related, he had a few other things which he collected. One of these is the weekly Del Prado & Osprey magazine collection of ‘Build the HMS Victory’.

Being mainy into armour I haven’t a clue how much something like this would be worth? Anybody have a an idea? We’ve been through it, and it’s as supplied, all there, with each of the weekly magazines still with each of the wooden and brass parts, and factsheet etc. 100 magazines in total.

        Hello Vinny

If it`s anything like the Bismark kit…………….each issue is a Fiver!

        It`s a steal at £100…………………but don`t look at me!

          Hello Mr Branigan

I have asked Paul about your dilema and he said that the origional magazines would have cost well over £400 but the value of the kit itself is worth a lot less, he estimates somewhere in the region of £75 – £100 this is because the kits themselves were not of any great quality.

He asked me to check on line and I found 2 on e bay one of which is for sale at £50.

He also suggested that you should build it yourself as an introduction to classic model building and as a suitable project for the website, and not to forget that he would help if required.

          Regards

Thanks Bob!  And thankyou very much Jane for asking Paul.  The trouble with building it myself is firstly time….too many tanks to build!  Secondly, getting my boss to shell out £100 for it!

Take a look at the Bismark build on Model Mayhem before you even think about it!

Jane……..Finest regards to Paul…….Nice to read he`s paying attention

Bob…..it’s covered in my contract of employment.  I’m not allowed to look at that site.

                  Hello Mr Branigan

Is this collection open to offers or are you hoping to get £100?

I know that of all rigged ships the Victory holds a special place in Pauls heart (pardon the pun) and this might be a relaxing project for him whilst he recuperates.

                  Regards

                    Hello Mr Abell

Paul is a little better but the medication is very strong so he spends a lot of time asleep or groggy.

I shall pass on you kind comments when he next wakes up.

                    Regards

                      Hi Jane,

I don’t know as yet, I have to contact Tina whose husband passed away and relate everything to her.  I think she has the Titanic collection as well?

                        Hello Mr Branigan

Paul would not know which kit to start first he still has a huge sectional Titanic in the shed and has a huge amount of information on the original ship. I think these 2 ships are his all time favorites and as i said I need to keep him quiet whilst he gets over this latest bout.

But like everyone else money is tight and I have no desire to take advantage of your late friends poor wife so perhaps one of the other members will make you a fair offer for both of them.

                        Thank you for replying.

                        Kind regards

                        Jane
