      Hi Tim

I was trying to reacquaint myself with how you built the keel box (if that’s the right term) on one of your builds from many years ago and I can’t remember the name of it and where it resides. Doing a search didn’t turn it up.

      Cheers, Chris

Ok found it, Galileo, as it was mentioned on another thread – Wild Duck meets Eventide.

Some reading to do now and marvel at the workmanship and attention to detail again!

          Hi Chris,

I will Whatsapp Tim for you, Tim’s Wild Duck and Eventide are coming on well.

Well worth considering DF65 short keel and bulb, that’s what I’m going to use for future designs 🙂

          Regards Ray

            Hello Chris

Yes it was Galileo but I have used the same principle on Wild Duck and Eventide pretty much according to Ray’s plans. The only difference is that the tops of my boxes are closed with the retaining bolt coming in from the top.

I am a bit behind with posting due to being busy at work but will catch up soon.  I am looking forward to sailing then together.  Ray says Wild Duck sails better.  I have extension rudders on both.

The DF65 keel is a good option for this size boat but hard to get in Mallorca and expensive.  I have plenty of lead and casting them myself is good fun.

What have you got in mind for the keel?

            Tim

Thanks chaps, great minds think alike as that is exactly what I’m considering especially as DF65 parts are pretty cheap here and I don’t fancy casting a lead bulb like you two do! As you say Ray they conveniently do a shorter keel which should just be the job. As you’ve probably guessed it’s for the Fisherman 27.

Virtually finished my son’s flat at last and he’s moved in so I can finally get back to model boat building. Good job I’ve got my build blogs to remind me how to do things!

Whilst searching I found your Huntsman 31 build Tim which I’d forgotten about, did you ever progress it?

              Chris
