Well Ray, I have to say how disappointed I am that after all these months of repeated remonstrations regarding the lack of a Marketplace section in the magazine, when it is finally announced that it is returning it remains noticeably quiet!

If, of course, the reasoning for this would happen to be you not reading this month's editorial because you do not have a copy then surely that supports the argument that you should read every magazine cover to cover to ensure you are up to date with the latest news?

Seriously though, I thought you might like to know it is returning in the September issue. Enjoy!

          Hi Richard,

Unfortunately or fortunately I do buy the magazine both MB's & RCM&E

The Market place will be charged for administration costs, so no more free adds !

No such news on the free adds in RCM&E

Models are worth so little anyway they may go in the skip, logistics of delivering a model has always made it difficult.

So maybe not a dream come true after all ?

          Regards Ray

I emailed Lindsey a week or so back asking if she knew how they intended to implement the free add facility on the website as I wouldn't want toi see it piggy backing on the forum otherwise it could clog up the 'latest posts' facility. She hasn't replied yet!

However I did have a look at some of the other Morton titles and there is at least one which has a free ad module on its website which allows you to fill in an online form. I imagine ther it wouldn't be too difficult to put a similar link on the MB website front page without the need to use the Forum.

              Hi Colin,

Do you think the online advert application would lead to it being published in the hard copy magazine ?

I never thought the forum classified ads reached many active boat modellers ?

Would we know how many hits the forum gets daily??

              Sorry it's all questions

              Regards Ray

                Hi Ray,

The only info I have is that there will; be a free online facility but tht the printed adverts in the magazine will need to be paid for so there will be no crossover.

I found these free ad facilities on other Morton magazines:

                **LINK**

                **LINK**

The Old Bike Mart website seems to charge £6 per ad.

I suspect, as already speculated, that the people who formerly used the free ad facility in the printed copy of MB, are not people who tend to follow the forum much although there will be some duplication.

I don't have any info on the number of hits the MB website gets. It used to be monitored once but in the latter days of MBM I think it was just mainly an advertising appendage. I still have to clear up to 20 false registrations per day (mainly from Russia) but Morton's IT people are trying to screen some of them out.

Mayhem seems to do OK with sales and might have more, or at least differfent, readers.

Mayhem sales faciility is only available to established members with at least 22 contributory posts. It's not a general sales board. Like us, Martin doen't want it being exploited by sellers who want to avoid EBay fees.
